Japanese fishing net on 4191 kHz

_
Every now and then I stumble upon this Japanese net, in CW, always on 4191 kHz (zero beat frequency). The c/s are usually the same, JQMY, JHQY, JHWF, JINZ, JIQA etc. There is little traffic, and it is full of japanese characters, I presume. I am still to take the time and patience to translate all CW special characters into "kana" codes, and then into English or Portuguese.

The log-in session can be found here: Audio_Clip (mp3). Shortly I will be uploading a traffic session audio clip.

Example of the traffic:

TTNM6 ON IFIFSN DE JQMY (--.--) 9T -.-.. K5IF4/2I N
DE JEIEES III (--.--) 7TBIF 1(...-.)
DE JHWF QT5 T(-.-..)D2 (...-.)
DE JISZ G(---.) M6 5BIF 1(...-.)
DE JHIY 87 TT(--.--)9 (-.-..) C2S
DE JIQE (--.--)7 5(----) BIF 2S
R BCMK PAL ?
NKS ?
KKG
V MS (--.-.)

1 kHz below another station transmitted the following:

NR33 (.-.-..)38 NR 1(-..---)A(.-.-.) V(-.--.) BT A(-.-.-) ... WNN...

In parenthesis: maybe prosign/special characters, maybe kana sign.

Chilean 5LG

Last night I was surfing the 5 MHz segment, when I heard a station sending 5 letter groups, in Spanish, USB, at 5155 kHz. I thought it was a Number Station, but this time there was another station acknowledging the transmissions.

The station PN (Papa November) was reading out the groups, and San Pedro Radio-CBS (Chilean Coastal Station) was confirming reception, or asking for repeats. This went on for about 30 minutes, with ocasional log-ins by Magellanes Radio-CBM (also Chilean Coastal Station).

Brazilian Navy - IDs, c/s, selcals, QRGs. This list is always under
work, and was prepared by Anderson - PY1VHF, with invaluable
help from Kristian, in Germany.

Notes:

1- This list is not complete. If you have any info not displayed
here, please drop me an e-mail.

2- It’s Brazilian Navy's common practice to transmit only the 5
last characters as c/s, for instance PWF33 instead of the full c/s
GWPWF33. Sometimes only the last 2 characters are used, i. e.,
"DW" instead of PWDW. The reasoning for this practice is that
only recently have the characters "GW" been added to the c/s.

3- Although almost all sations have designated c/s / ID, it does
not mean they are capable of operating on the various
transmission modes, like RTTY, Packet, Link-11 etc.

Interesting note: This frigate took part in the Falklands/Malvinas war. At the time, she belonged to England and was originally named HMS Broadsword:

"During the Falklands conflict HMS Broadsword & HMS Coventry were attacked by the Argentinean airforce. The Broadsword was lucky, having a bomb go through the flight deck which did not explode, the Coventry was not so lucky needing Broadsword to rescue 170 of her crew. Broadsword successfully shot down four enemy aircraft during the Falklands conflict." Source: www.greenhalgh-web.co.uk/F46%20Greenhalgh.htm

Brazilian Army, Rio Grande do Sul State

Packet Radio communications have been logged recently by me on 9122 and 9182 kHz.
Other QRGs logged in the past: 8402, 18247, 16334 kHz. Most traffic is encrypted.
Shifts used: 200/300, bauds: 200/300
Main units use Harris transceivers, and 1KW output. Other units use Motorola MICOM-2 and
125 Watts.

Although Brazilian Armed Forces moved most of its comms to sattelite, and there is a plan of
integrating all Forces into only one big net, there is still some good stuff to be monitored on HF:
The Navy is using USB/ALE and Pactor/Sitor-B, Air Force is still being heard on some occasions
on USB/ALE, the Army still have a few links using HF Packet.
